BACKGROUND
A tier-one Australian mining company required the overhaul of four Waracar shuttle cars. As critical production assets, the fleet needed to be overhauled to maintain modern operational standards while ensuring ongoing safety, reliability and long-term serviceability.
SOLUTION
Ampcontrol completed the four Waracar overhauls on a rolling schedule at our Rutherford facility, minimising disruption to site operations. Each overhaul included complete strip and assessment, component repairs and final assembly, as well as testing and commissioning before completion.
The following customised upgrades were implemented:
- One-piece steering components engineered for maximum strength and reliability
- Wear packages on conveyor chain decks, side walls and guides
- Structural strengthening in critical chassis areas
- Cable reel valve and cable extension length sensor
- Hopper hungry board to increase bucket capacity
- iSLEDi and iSLEDe lighting systems
- Rear camera and monitor
- Relocated greasing points for easier maintenance access
- Heavy-duty 100 mm kingpins fitted to wheel units
OUTCOME
The four Waracars were returned to service with enhanced durability, reliability and maintainability. The custom modifications improved long-term asset performance by upgrading access and serviceability features.
