Power Factor Correction

Power factor correction (PFC) is one of the most effective ways to reduce energy costs, stabilise voltage, and release electrical capacity in your infrastructure. We design, manufacture, and install power factor correction equipment for mining, heavy industry, and commercial operations across Australia - delivering tariff savings, improved power quality, and capital avoidance through the right PFC solution for your site.

Efficient and timely power response

Poor power factor means paying for electricity you cannot use. When reactive power flows through your electrical system without performing productive work, it inflates demand charges on your electricity bill and reduces the usable capacity of your electrical infrastructure. We’re well-versed in meeting our customers' energy needs and are committed to delivering and supporting devices and equipment that ensure power quality.

Our range of power factor correction solutions includes Hybrid Active Power Factor Correction (HAPFC) systems, static VAR generators for active power factor correction, harmonic filters and reactors, capacitor banks, and STATCOMs. Each system is selected based on your load profile, harmonic content, and environment - we do not apply a one-size-fits-all approach.

HAPFC

Our Hybrid Active Power Factor Correction system combines passive capacitor banks with active electronic compensation to deliver superior power quality outcomes. Designed for variable loads with moderate harmonic content, where standard capacitor banks cannot cope, and a fully active solution may be over-specified.

HARMONIC FILTERS AND REACTORS

Our harmonic filters and reactors reduce equipment overheating and nuisance tripping caused by non-linear loads. Active harmonic filters analyse distortion in real time, while passive filters and detuned reactors provide cost-effective mitigation of known harmonic profiles, improving energy efficiency and protecting your electrical equipment.

STATIC VAR GENERATORS

Our active power factor correction (APFC) systems provide instantaneous, step-less compensation with response times under 15 milliseconds. Static VAR generators use power electronics to generate reactive power without traditional capacitor banks — ideal for fast-switching, harmonically rich environments where loads change rapidly throughout shift cycles.

STATCOMs

STATCOM and SVC technologies use power electronics to regulate voltage, power factor, and harmonics in medium- and high-voltage systems. We are one of the few Australian manufacturers offering STATCOM solutions, giving customers access to advanced power factor correction for transmission-level applications that other providers cannot deliver.
