Ampcontrol is an Accredited Service Provider, Level 1 and 3 (ASP1 and ASP3), enabling us to lend our engineering expertise to the construction and design of transmission network assets.  

Our comprehensive mobile high-voltage testing capability includes 36kV AC, 200kV AV and 720kV AV (resonate) high-voltage test equipment mounted on dedicated heavy vehicles. This capability is extended by several uncommitted HV sources that can be transported to the site as required ranging from 22kV AC to 100kV AC as well as 52kV AC p-p, 3ph switchboard test set. 

Our industry-leading workshop facilities support our onsite assets, including a transformer oil testing laboratory, a high-voltage mobile test plant, and strategically located cable workshops. 

At Ampcontrol, we recognise the operational value of power transformers and are dedicated to ensuring their reliability and optimal performance. In addition to general maintenance, Ampcontrol can perform comprehensive high-voltage direct current testing, diagnostics, and condition assessments for the efficient long-distance transmission of your power grid and renewable energy sources.      

Our NATA-accredited oil testing laboratory offers access to a comprehensive range of insulating oil analysis testing methods, enabling you to stay informed about the overall health of your transformer. The laboratory is compliant with ISO/IEC 1725 and holds NATA Accreditation (Accreditation No. 4669) with all work performed to Australian and international standards. 

We provide oil regeneration, filtration, and oil handling services utilising our suite of regeneration plants, portable filtration units, vacuum drying, and degassing machines for larger transformers. We can also remove and transport transformer oil, including oil contaminated with PCBs. 

Regular high voltage inspections are critical in ensuring the safety of equipment and personnel in any industrial environment. Many safety issues can be identified and prevented by performing a detailed inspection of high voltage electric.al equipment and taking necessary corrective actions. When identified early, potential hazards can be removed avoiding downtime, financial loss and risk to personnel. 

Ampcontrol can also audit the electrical transmission system documentation associated with high voltage installations. An Ampcontrol audit includes a written report identifying areas of non-compliance and remedial actions that should be undertaken to comply with relevant standards.

Ampcontrol can overhaul, upgrade, and repair a range of electrical equipment, including transformers, substations, starters, DCBs, circuit breakers, switchers, isolators, switchboards, electronic equipment, and cables for connections. This work can be undertaken in the field and in our certified workshops across Australia.

In our transformer facilities, we can overhaul and upgrade transformers with a capacity of up to 50 MVA and 132kV, weighing up to 80 tonnes.

Our AS/NZS3800 workshops in NSW and QLD are purpose-built for the repair, overhaul and modification of flameproof equipment designed for use in explosive atmospheres. These overhauls are supported by our underground field service team, which can undertake pre-overhaul inspections and assist in preparing your equipment for overhaul in the field.

Ampcontrol’s comprehensive cable services support both underground and high voltage cable requirements onsite and in our cable workshops.  

Onsite we provide high voltage cable testing and fault locating services as well as inspection packages; providing the personal point of difference to managing the generated power transmitted from your cable fleet to your old & new transmission lines.  

These services are supported by a fleet of specialist cable reeling trucks including a unique remote-controlled indexing arm designed to meet relevant safety standards and industry best practices.

Our site services are backed by strategically positioned cable workshops in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia providing cable repair, plug fitting, splicing, terminations and testing compliant to AS/NZS1747.
