Switchrooms

We design and manufacture prefabricated, transportable, and modular switchrooms for mining, infrastructure, energy, and industrial applications across Australia. Every electrical switchroom is factory-built and comprehensively tested before delivery reducing project risk and onsite construction time. With more than 55 years of engineering expertise and a proven track record across some of Australia’s most demanding projects, we can deliver switchroom solutions built for up to a 100-year design life.

Advanced Protection for Critical Operations

Through engineering-led design and advanced manufacturing, we develop switchrooms that meet the evolving demands of modern industrial facilities, including mining, infrastructure, tunnelling, data centres, and processing plants. Our electrical switchrooms house advanced circuit breakers, control panels, and protection systems, delivering robust performance in high-demand environments where safety and compliance are non-negotiable.

Every switchroom includes our innovative arc fault vent design - an Ampcontrol innovation that enhances personnel safety and ensures compliance with Australian standards. Each unit is prefabricated and tested in controlled workshop conditions before delivery to your site, reducing installation timelines and minimising project risk.

Our switchrooms are built to endure Australia’s harshest operating conditions from cyclone-rated coastal regions to underground mining environments. As one of Australia’s leading switchroom manufacturers, we deliver long-term asset performance and security of supply across the mining industry, infrastructure projects, and commercial buildings.

Why choose modular switchrooms?

  • Reduced on-site labour and commissioning time

  • Customised layouts, fit-out, and cable entry options

  • Built to meet Australian standards and site-specific compliance requirements

  • Adaptable to load growth, future expansion, or relocation

  • Seamlessly integrates with Ampcontrol substations, transformers, and distribution systems

Flexible infrastructure for high-availability environments

Electrical Equipment Room

Electrical Equipment Rooms (EER) are similar in application to switchrooms but accommodate a broader range of electrical systems. EERs can house switchgear alongside backup generators, UPS units, control equipment, and communication systems — making them well-suited to applications where continuous uptime and power interruption are not options.

EERs are critical infrastructure components across tunnelling, telecommunications, and data centre applications, where functionality, equipment protection, and efficient power distribution are essential. Their design flexibility makes them the preferred choice for infrastructure projects that require a broader scope of electrical equipment within a single secure enclosure.

We achieved an Australian first when we provided off-site-manufactured custom EERs installed directly into Sydney’s WestConnex M5 project. The units were designed with built-in roller skates, allowing them to be moved into cross-passage positions within the tunnel with precision — reducing time on-site and improving safety outcomes in a complex underground environment.
