Temporary electrics for Tuas Water Reclamation Plant

Delivering complete temporary electrics to support development works at Tuas Water Reclamation Plant in Singapore.

Background:

The TWRP receives used water from the western part of Singapore via two gravity fed underground tunnels. This includes domestic (municipal) used water and industrial used water, with each source of water treated separately and reclaimed for re-use after treatment.

Delivering services on behalf of McConnell Dowell South Asia Pte Ltd for the Public Utilities Board, we provided a range of equipment and services within the TWRP site. This included 2.6km of high voltage underground cable, along with the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the entire temporary electrics at the site.

Solution:

Our solution for TWRP included:

  • Supply and installation of 2.6km of 22kV high voltage (HV) cable around the site using a hydraulic winch to manage uneven terrain
  • Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of all temporary electrics on site during development works, from 22kV intake substation to the 433V supply for street lighting and security cameras
  • Custom design and off-site manufacture of three metalclad substations
  • Supply of major equipment including: four sets of 22kV GIS switchgear, four 22kV/400V transformers, four low voltage main switchboards, eight OG boxes and corresponding HV and LV cables
  • Oversized substations delivered under police escort during off-peak times to aid with transportation to site.

Outcome:

We successfully provided a temporary electrics reticulation system at Tuas Water Reclamation Plant, assisting development works on site.
