Providing two control panel buildings to support the state-of-the-art Private High Voltage Substation at Kemp’s Creek, NSW.
BACKGROUND:
Ausconnex was awarded the contract to design and construct a 132kV / 22kV substation for in Kemps Creek for a leading international data centre operator. Since breaking ground in September 2023, the project is on track for delivery in late 2024.
Data centres provide the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on at work and in our personal lives. Local businesses, governments, hospitals, and schools rely on data centres every day to deliver goods and services.
Ampcontrol’s transportable control panel room design and manufacturing credentials, as well as our capability, capacity, project management and flexibility to source equipment, made us the ideal supplier. Ampcontrol won the project with Ausconnex in July 2023.
SOLUTION:
Ampcontrol completed the construction of the two modular transportable control panel buildings at our Hunter Valley workshops, providing the customer with a one-stop shop for timely and complete delivery.
Sourcing onshore delivers benefits to our clients in cost saving, and reduced carbon emissions, contributing to sustainability in construction.
Designed and prefabricated for ease of mobility and installation, these control panel buildings were fully fabricated, manufactured and tested in our workshops. This approach ensured quality through manufacture in a controlled environment, reduced onsite construction, installation and commissioning time and improved site safety.
In addition to the project scope, we sourced and delivered a multitude of panels, including protection and metering panels.
Ampcontrol delivered two transportable control panel buildings in June 2024, requiring careful coordination of transport, project teams and crane operators. To ensure minimal disruption to adjacent works programs, the offload was scheduled for a Saturday. The dimensions of the customised control panel buildings are:
- 13.1 m x 5.4 m
- 8.9 m x 5.4 m
At the special request of the client, the control panel buildings will be painted in a blue and grey checkered pattern to complement the surrounding buildings.
