Singapore Solar Panel Project

EnergyInfrastructure

Supporting the power needs of a utility-scale solar farm in Singapore through 22kV containerised systems.

Background:

Awarded in January 2020 and completed in November 2021, the SolarLand 2 (SL2) is a state-of-the-art ground-mount photovoltaic (PV) powerplant installed on 116,000 square meters of interim industrial land at Changi Business Park.

SL2 has a total solar capacity of 19.2 MWp with over 35,0000 solar panels, making this Singapore’s largest ground-mounted solar installation.

The site is expected to generate clean electricity to the national grid over the next 20 years, equivalent to powering approximately 3,365 HDB 4-room flats annually.

Solution:

We were commissioned to design, supply, deliver and install two 22kV containerised systems. These systems were designed and built with natural ventilation, light arrestors, lighting, power and fire alarm systems.

We also supplied and installed 22kV GSI switchgear, including a battery charger, and were responsible for the testing and commissioning of the systems, including the protection relays.

Outcome:

The result of the project was the successful commissioning of the largest ground mounted utility-scale solar farm in Singapore. While site works are still ongoing, the 22kV system was successfully powered on.

Suitable crops will be planted below the solar arrays through a community urban farming initiative that will run concurrently on site.
