High Voltage Transformers

Power Transformers

Our power transformers are suitable for electricity networks, mine sites, transport systems, processing plants, & data centres, and we have been designing, manufacturing and servicing them from our ISO 9001-accredited Australian facility for decades.

Maximum reliability and durability

Why Ampcontrol for Power Transformers

At Ampcontrol, we specialise in high- and medium-voltage power transformers for transmission and distribution substations, industrial and commercial supply networks, aboveground mine-site systems, and transportable substations.

Our stringently tested oil-filled power transformers are manufactured within our ISO 9001-accredited Australian facility and are suitable for electricity networks, mine sites, office buildings, transport systems, manufacturing facilities, processing plants, and tunnelling projects - wherever a power supply is required.

Product features

  • Multi-winding: Primary winding receives the input alternating current and sets up the magnetic field, and Secondary winding, where the induced voltage is delivered to the load.

  • Conservator type (sealed or free breathing)

  • Nitrogen cushioned sealed type

  • High current/low voltage designs

  • High flash point fluid (natural ester, synthetic ester, silicone)

  • Long life, durable paint system for corrosion protection

Surface Transformers

Power transformers come in a range of configurations to suit specific requirements - different fluids, cooling methods, voltage classes and operating environments. They share the same operating principle but differ in construction and application.

Auto Transformer

Ampcontrol auto transformers deliver proven automatic performance for mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects, even in the harshest environments.

Dry Type Surface Transformer

Our dry type surface transformers are manufactured using non-explosive nitrogen gas to suppress arc explosions.

Earthing Transformer

We offer conservatively designed earthing transformers available in units up to 3000 Amps in the neutral for 66,000 volt systems.

Ester Fluid Transformer

Our enhanced ester fluid transformers operate on bio-based, sustainable, renewable and recyclable ester dielectric fluid.

Applications by industry

Power transformers serve diverse applications across Australia's industrial economy - wherever a reliable power supply is required, and electrical equipment must perform without interruption.

Utilities and grid

Substations, transmission, and distribution projects for network operators, including Ausgrid, Energex, Endeavour, Powercor, and Western Power.

Mining

Surface and underground installations across coal, metalliferous and critical minerals. Flameproof, GNAN and longwall substation transformers built for hazardous areas.

Processing plants

Sugar mills, alumina refineries, mineral processing and food processing facilities. Where production downtime costs millions per hour, transformer reliability is non-negotiable.

Transport

Rail traction transformers, road tunnel substations and port terminal supply. Built for continuous duty in harsh environments.

Data centres

Uninterrupted power supply for hyperscale and colocation facilities. Ester fluid transformers offer fire-safe, biodegradable dielectric for sustainability-led builds.

Renewables

Wind farm collector transformers, solar farm step-up transformers and battery energy storage system (BESS) interconnection units. Custom designs for harmonic-rich environments.
