Ampcontrol Renews Community Partnership

As a supporter of the vital lifesaving organisation for over a decade, Ampcontrol has strengthened its financial commitment to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service for another year, announcing the partnership renewal at an employee fundraising event held in Tomago, NSW.   

Ampcontrol witnessed the vital lifesaving services of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service after one of their employees required urgent transport following a serious motor vehicle accident while driving on a country road in North Western NSW, resulting in months of rehabilitation in hospital. 

Zac Picton, Ampcontrol Field Service Technician required urgent transport following a serious motor vehicle accident while driving on a country road from Gunnedah to Newcastle NSW in 2022 after completing a job. His vehicle collided with a semi-trailer, and after being air-lifted to John Hunter Hospital in New Lambton Heights, NSW, Zac was in the intensive care unit for weeks, before undergoing months of rehabilitation. Zac returned to his role at Ampcontrol months after the accident. 

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Services have been providing emergency aeromedical services to 1.5 million people across Northern NSW for almost 50 years, operating from three bases at Belmont, Tamworth and Lismore. Ranging from flights for babies who are just moments old, through to people requiring specialist medical treatment or trauma assistance, search and rescues in the bush or out at sea and winch extractions from tough terrain. 

"Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has been involved in some incredible stories over the years, but it wouldn't be without businesses like Ampcontrol who partner with us. When I started 30 years ago, we had 20 full-time staff. Now in 2025, we have 160 full-time staff with 40 just in our engineering team to keep our helicopters online and airborne within in 10 minutes," says Richard Jones, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Head of Community Engagement.
